Margaret Jack Kadıoğlu, Director of the British Council in Turkey, and Neslihan Boncuk, Head of Education for the British Council visited Akdeniz University on November 20th 2014. The highly respected Margaret Jack Kadıoğlu stated that as part of the agreement reached by the British Council and TUBİTAK, scientists following their doctorate courses would be provided with support both over the short term (less than 1 year), as well as for long term commitments up to 5 years. In her role as Director of the British Council in Turkey, she added that financial responsibility for the project would be divided equally between the United Kingdom and Turkey, and that the announcement of the project would be made on November 27th 2014. Our distinguished guest went on to say that the British Council was very keen to take part in collaborative ventures with state universities in Turkey in the field of English Education, and that negotiations with YÖK dealing with this issue were now reaching their final stage. She laid special emphasis on the desire of the British Council to encourage Akdeniz University to take part in this cooperation.

Prof. Dr. Burhan Özkan, Advisor to the Rector and Head of the International Relations Office, expressed his gratitude to the British Council in Turkey for their visit, adding that Akdeniz University attached the highest importance to internationalization, and that work carried out in pursuit of that aim would continue to improve both in volume and tempo. Professor Özkan underlined the enthusiasm within the university for further collaboration with the British Council. The meeting ended with a presentation to the guest delegation made by Prof. Dr. Burhan Özkan on behalf of Akdeniz University.
