Visit of Delegation from Chiba University

Akdeniz University, which has signed scientific and cultural cooperation agreements with distinguished universities not only in Europe, but also in every part of the world, signed a cooperation agreement with Chiba University, one of the leading universities of Japan, on June 26th 2011. The signing of this cooperation agreement made the reciprocal exchange of students between our universities a reality. In 2013, the Mevlana Exchange Programme Protocol was signed with Chiba University with the aim of increasing the scope of opportunities for students and members of the academic staffs of our two universities. This includes offering the chance to take part in educational programmes in another country, and enhancing the mobility of students and academics both here and in Japan.  

With the aim of evaluating the current level of collaboration between Akdeniz University and Chiba University, a delegation from Chiba University which included Prof. Ryoko Niikura, (Director of the Center for International Research and Education), Prof. Katsuki Umeda, Assoc. Prof. Aya Yoshino, Assistant Prof. Gaitanidis Ioannis, Hiroshi Sodeyama (Chief of the International Affairs Division) and Natsumi Nishikawa paid a visit to Akdeniz University on March 1st 2014.

Prof. Dr. Burhan Ozkan (Advisor to the Rector and Head of the International Relations Office),  Prof. Dr. Mimar Türkkahraman (Dean of the Faculty of Education), Prof. Dr. Şahin Yazar (Chief of the Japanese Friendship Association in Antalya), Prof. Dr. Aynur Kazaz (Dean of the Alanya Faculty of Engineering), Ayça Altay (International Cooperation and Publicity Coordinator), Nurgül Büyükkalay (Mevlana Exchange Programme Institutional Coordinator) and members of the teaching staff took part in the meeting on behalf of Akdeniz University.

The meeting started with an opening speech by Prof. Dr. Burhan Özkan, followed by a presentation on the theme of the collaboration between Akdeniz University and Chiba University by Ayça Altay and a presentation dealing with the Mevlana Exchange Programme by Nurgul Büyükkalay. After these presentations, Hiroshi Sodeyama from Chiba University spoke on the subject of the implementation of the fundamental principles of the Mevlana Exchange Programme at Chiba University. Following a mutual evaluation of the level of collaboration between the two universities, the Mevlana Exchange Programme Additional Protocol was signed by Prof. Dr. Burhan Ozkan, Head of the International Relations Office and Prof. Ryoko Niikura with the aim of increasing the mobility of students and academics between Akdeniz University and Chiba University.
