Akdeniz University, which has entered into a wide range of scientific and cultural cooperation protocols not only with many of the best universities in Europe, but also with some of the most highly-respected universities in the world, added another illustrious name to its list of partner institutions when a cooperation protocol was signed with Chiba University, one of the leading university in Japan, on the 26th of June 2011. Chiba University, founded in 1949, is one of the most important universities in Japan with approximately 15,000 students, 9 faculties and a long and illustrious history.

The Cooperation Protocol signed by Prof. Dr. İsrafil KURTCEPHE, Rector of Akdeniz University and Prof. Yasushi SAITO, the President of Chiba University encompasses articles dealing with; teaching staff, research staff and student exchanges, the organisation of joint research projects, conferences and meetings, as well as the exchange of information and publications. The Cooperation Protocol will be valid for 5 years.

The protocol signing ceremony was attended on behalf of Akdeniz University by Prof. Dr. İsrafil KURTCEPHE, Rector of Akdeniz University, Prof. Dr. Veli ORTAÇEŞME, Advisor to the Rector, Prof. Dr. Oktay DİNÇ, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Osman KARAGÜZEL, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. Dr. Şahin YAZAR, teaching staff of the Faculty of Medicine, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ahmet YARDIMCI, teaching staff of the Vocational School of Technical Sciences, Aydın ÖZDEMİR, Head of the Directorate of Health, Culture and Sports, and Nurgül BÜYÜKKALAY from the International Relations Office. Chiba University was represented at the ceremony by Prof. Yasushi Saito, President of Chiba University, Prof. Takeshi Tokuhisa, Vice-President, Prof. Takato Koba, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. Sadao Kimura, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, and Hiroshi Sodeyama, Head of International Relations.
