Kyrgyzstan-Turkey Manas University Delegation in Akdeniz University


Akdeniz University, which has scientific and cultural cooperation agreements with both European Countries and highly respected universities throughout the world, signed a cooperation agreement on September 26th 2013 with Kyrgyzstan-Turkey Manas University.  In addition, Akdeniz University signed a Mevlana Exchange Programme Protocol that aims to facilitate the exchange of students and academic staff members between Turkish higher education institutions and the higher education institutions of other countries. Within the framework of the Mevlana Exchange Programme Protocol which was signed between the two universities, 8 students have arrived to follow courses of education, and 1 academic staff member has visited to give a lecture at Akdeniz University.

As part of the cooperation agreement, the Rector of Kyrgyzstan-Turkey Manas University visited Akdeniz University on November 20th 2013. The meeting was attended by the Rector of Akdeniz University, Prof. Dr. İsrafil Kurtcephe, accompanied by the Vice-rectors, and the Deans of the Faculties of Agriculture, Letters, Engineering and Education. The Rector of Kyrgyzstan-Turkey Manas University, Prof. Dr. Sebahattin Balcı, was accompanied by the Deputy Rector, Prof. Dr. Asylbek Kulmyrzaev, Dean of Faculty of Engineering from Kyrgyzstan-Turkey Manas University.

At the meeting, Rector Prof. Dr. İsrafil Kurtcephe stated that Akdeniz University and Kyrgyzstan-Turkey Manas University are sister universities and he is glad to see that the agreement is not just on paper, it would also be an active partnership.

The Rector of Kyrgyzstan-Turkey Manas University, Prof. Dr. Sebahattin Balcı replied that they were looking forward to following the recent achievements of Akdeniz University, and that in their opinion Akdeniz University was one of the best example of administrative management and the effective use of human resources. He congratulated the Rector and all the staff members of Akdeniz University.

The Deputy Rector of Kyrgyzstan-Turkey Manas University, Prof. Dr. Asylbek Kulmyrzaev, added that despite being a young university, Akdeniz University had attained worldwide success, and he expressed his admiration for this achievement. He revealed that the purpose of their visit was to take advantage of Akdeniz University’s knowledge and experience.

A brief presentation about Akdeniz University was made by the International Relations Office. After being introduced, students from Kyrgyzstan-Turkey Manas University who are studying at Akdeniz University as part of Mevlana Exchange Programme took part in a meeting with the Kyrgyzstan-Turkey Manas University Delegation. The students stated that studying at Akdeniz University was a big opportunity, and that other Kyrgyz students should take advantage of this chance and the number of incoming students should be increased. They said that the International Relations Office had made an important contribution to their happiness.
