     GRADUATE EDUCATION APPLICATION PROCESS FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS  


Candidates must fill in the application form which can be found on the website of the Graduate School to which they wish to apply. The website addresses can be found below. Please print the completed form and attach all relevant documents, and then give it directly to the Graduate School concerned.

The Graduate School can only accept original or certified copies of the documents for applications.

Applicants can only apply to one programme in each Graduate School.


ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

 

  • The candidate must have an undergraduate or postgraduate diploma whose validity is accepted by the Council of Higher Education 
  • The candidate must have achieved at least Level B in the Turkish Proficiency Exam. (This document is not required from those who have graduated from a Turkish higher education institution.)
  • The candidate must have achieved at least Level B1 in the Proficiency Exam for a foreign language (usually English) as required by the postgraduate programme for which they are applying. Recognised equivalents of this exam may also be accepted.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR APPLICATIONS



POST GRADUATE

  • Head and shoulders photograph (4,5 x 6 size), taken within the last six months (2 Copies)
  • Passport photocopy (with original)
  • Copy of undergraduate diploma (with original)
  • Certified Turkish translation of graduation diploma (made by a consulate or certified translator)
  • Copy of undergraduate transcript (with original)
  • Certified Turkish translation of graduation transcript (made by a consulate or certified translator)
  • Diploma equivalency certificate which has been awarded by the board of higher education (or school recognition text)
  • Foreign language examination certificate, Level B1 (TOEFL, IELTS or equivalent)
  • Turkish proficiency certificate, Level B
  • Permit of residence (If available)

DOCTORATE /ART PROFICIENCY

EVALUATION OF THE APPLICATION


Evaluation will be made according to the provisions of the university senate decision number 10/73, dated 25.05.2012;

Regarding “The Acceptance of International Students" to the postgraduate programmes in the Graduate Schools of Akdeniz University; to be admitted to postgraduate programmes, 40% of the applicant’s undergraduate grade point average will be calculated. To be accepted for the Doctorate/Proficiency in Art Programme, 40% of the applicant’s postgraduate grade point average, and 60% of the interview examination will be calculated. As a result of the calculation of these points, applicants with a point score of 70 and above may be admitted to the programme, providing the number of successful applicants is within the quota of places available.           


DATES, LOCATION AND EVALUATION OF
APPLICATIONS, AND THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF RESULTS

 

Information about application dates, and the date, place and time of the oral exams will be published in announcements which will be published on the webpage of the relevant graduate school, as well as on the Akdeniz University webpages. Announcement of the results and final registration procedures for original and alternate candidates will be made by the student affairs offices of the relevant graduate schools. The list of documents required for registration will be announced on the website of the relevant graduate school.

 
FINAL REGISTRATION



According to the Akdeniz University Graduate Education and Teaching Regulations, paragraph 16;

  • Candidates who are accepted as Graduate students must complete their final registration by submitting the documents specified by the Senate on the dates specified in the academic calendar. Only original or certified copies of the documents required for application and registration can be accepted by the University. No registered can be completed if any documents are missing or incorrect in any way. The address which the student has submitted in writing during the registration will be used as the notification address.
  • No further request for documents will be made to candidates who have completed the final registration process.
  • Candidates who submit altered or forged document, or practice any form of dishonesty in the entrance exams, will have their registration process cancelled and any appropriate legal action will be taken.
  • Students who have completed the final registration process must then register for their semester course.

 
EDUCATION PERIODS, COURSES AND STUDIES

 

Courses which will be taught in the graduate programs are shown on the website of the Graduate School to which the candidate has applied, as indicated above. 

1)      SCIENTIFIC PREPARATION

  • Candidates whose graduate or post-graduate education is in a non-scientific field who are accepted on graduate programmes can participate in the Scientific Preparation Programme, which is designed to make up any deficiencies in their knowledge.
  • The Scientific Preparation Programme will last for a maximum period of one year.

2)      POST-GRADUATE

  • Post-graduate programmes must consist of at least seven courses, a seminar course, a specialization field course, and a thesis study/report of art work. The course adviser may also give an extra course or courses. In order to graduate, students must successfully complete 120 ECTS grade points.with thesis
  • All Post-graduate programmes are designed to be completed within four semesters.with thesis

3)      DOCTORATE/ART PROFICIENCY

  • Doctorate/Art proficiency programmes for applicants with a post-graduate degree must consist of at least seven courses, two seminar courses, a qualifying examination and a thesis study/report of art work. The course adviser may also give an extra course or courses. In order to graduate, students must successfully complete 240 ECTS grade points.
  • All Doctorate/Art Proficiency programmes are designed to be completed within a minimum of six semesters for students who hold a postgraduate degree

 
TUITION FEES


Tuition fees for graduate programs will be 1,536.00 TL for the 2012/2013 academic year.
